NCDs are among the largest preventable causes of death in India. They primarily include cardiovascular diseases, cancers, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes. One in four deaths in India are NCD related.

Fighting NCDs for a Healthy Future

Following the World Health Organization’s Global Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of NCDs, 2013-2020, India adopted a set of 10 national targets under a National Action Plan to reduce premature NCD mortality by 25% by 2025. The Healthy India Alliance seeks to foster multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder engagement to achieve this goal.

Our Work

Partnership Development

The Healthy India Alliance seeks to develop a network of partners from multiple sectors and stakeholder groups to accelerate India’s NCD related targets.

Advocacy

The Healthy India Alliance advocates for a multi-sectoral policy response involving all identified Government Ministries and departments to mitigate the socio-economic and environmental impact of NCDs at the national and sub-national levels.

Capacity Building

The Healthy India Alliance seeks to train CSOs, health professionals, survivors and other advocates in counseling, screening, patient support and advocacy and communications on NCD related issues.

Engagement

The Healthy India Alliance seeks to foster meaningful engagement with all stakeholder groups including policymakers, CSOs, patients, survivors, youth, community and media for the prevention and control of NCDs in India.
